Participating Both Days

Welcome to the annual University Park Yardsale! We are excited to bring back the Yardsale in full force as the pandemic is winding down. The U Park yard sale is a great way to clear out all of your old belongings and get to know the community better. You will get the benefits of hosting a yard sale without having to do any of the marketing yourself. Members from the community will be provided with a map of all the houses the week of the yardale to visit the various sales. You can register below!

If you do not live in University Park and are interested in attending the yard sale to purchase for sale items, please use this website as a resource for yard sale details and participating resident addresses.

Lastly, we have compiled a list of great donation options for after the sale if you are interested in donating your unsold items.

What does it cost?  Participation is FREE! This event is being provided by Dave Easton and the UPCC as a service to the University Park community residents.

How will this event be promoted?  We provide advertising in print newspapers, online postings, and order professionally printed directional signs for the weekend of the sale. On the Friday and Saturday of the sale, each registered residence will have printed maps designating which homes are participating in the sale to help shoppers navigate the neighborhood. Shoppers will also be able to use www.universityparkyardsale.com map link to find all registered participants on their mobile device. This is why it’s important to register – not only so we can effectively promote a large sale in our advertising, but so shoppers will find you! Note: For privacy purposes, registered addresses will be advertised online only on the days of the sale.

What advertising am I responsible to provide? Signs will direct shoppers to the neighborhood and your street, and flyers will help shoppers find your home. However, if you would like to make sure your home stands out and shoppers can easily identify your sale items, you are welcome and encouraged to put up your own advertising and directional signs. For example, a poster board stating “Toys! Home Décor! Antiques! In large lettering will encourage the right shoppers to visit your sale.

Having a clearly marked “FREE” box will also attract buyers to your sale. Place items in the box that are in good condition, but that you would like to see someone else enjoy and take off your hands for free.

What are the hours of the sale? We will advertise 8am – 2pm for June 3rd & 4th. However, you are welcome to open and close according to what best fits your schedule. Please note the busiest and most profitable times for yard sales are early in the morning, and on Friday. To make the most of the “serious shoppers,” we’d recommend opening as early as 8 am.

I do want to sell, but not for two days. What are my options?  If you opt to participate on only one day, please be sure to put up a sign saying something such as “Open Tomorrow” on Friday, or “Sold Out” on Saturday. It will minimize confusion and encourage shoppers to proceed to the next home. Please note that Friday morning traditionally experiences the highest buyer volume. When registering, please be sure to select the day(s) you plan to participate.

I don’t know if I have enough items to merit a sale. What should I do? Buddy up with a neighbor and share a sale site! Or, if you don’t know of anyone else participating, let Dave know that you would be willing to either host a co-op sale, or take your items to someone else’s sale site. Dave will do his best to match you with someone else looking for a sales buddy.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Thank you for participating.
